MILFORD, Del. – Two teens were killed in an early morning crash in Milford.
Police say the crash happened at around 12:40 a.m. Investigation has revealed that a 2008 Jeep Patriot was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of Coastal Highway, north of Brick Granary Road, approaching a left curve. The vehicle reportedly failed to negotiate the curve and veered off into the grass median, traveling northbound between guardrails, approaching the double-span bridge of Cedar Creek. The Jeep then hit a grass berm and went into the water between the two spans, landing on the roof with the vehicle almost completely submerged.
Multiple Sussex County dive teams and Coastal Towing assisted with removing the Jeep from the water. At that time, two victims were located inside. Both victims were 17-year-old males, and identification is pending notification of next of kin.
