Cambridge man arrested on more than 50 charges following rape investigation
EASTON, Md. – A Cambridge man is facing more than 50 charges in connection to a rape and child pornography investigation.
In September 2021, Easton Police detectives say they received information about an internet user who was in possession of child pornography. Further investigation led detectives to identify 72-year-old Richard Robinson as the suspect involved.
We’re told after examining a large amount of evidence, police uncovered images that led to identifying a child under the age of 16, with whom Robinson had sexual contact. It was determined that this sexual contact took place in 2018 in Easton, and Robinson captured images of the victim. Detectives were able to identify and confirm the identity of the child.
On Wednesday, detectives with the Easton Police Department, with the assistance of the Department of Homeland Security, arrested Robinson and charged him with two counts of second degree rape, sex abuse of a minor – continued course of conduct, two counts of sexual solicitation of a minor, two counts of third degree sex offense, 22 counts of child pornography film in a sex act, and 22 counts of child pornography permit sex.
The investigation is continuing, and police are asking anyone that may have information on Robinson or this investigation to call 410-822-1111.
