BREAKING: Md. General Assembly votes to lift statewide school mask mandate

Dorchester Mask Decision

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Maryland’s statewide school mask mandate is coming to an end.

The Maryland General Assembly voted on Friday to rescind the statewide mandate for students and staff in schools. The move was approved in a 17 to 1 vote during the General Assembly’s Joint Committee meeting.

Local school districts will now have the ability to choose whether or not masks will be required in schools, based on local health metrics.
