Beyond Your Walls expanding their mobile showers

OCEAN CITY, Md. – Beyond Your Walls, the mobile shower for those experiencing homelessness is expanding its efforts to Worcester County, specifically in Ocean City.

Starting March 1st, they’ll be partnering with Worcester County Goes Purple to provide hot showers at the first Presbyterian Church of Ocean City. You can find it on 13th street, from 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays.

Along with a hot shower, people can grab a free lunch and a new set of clothing. The shower coordinator tells us, they’ve been wanting to expand since their success in Salisbury and are excited to continue their mission. “Now it’s just going to expand to another area where we’re going to basically do the same thing that we’re already doing here and just starting all over again, tilling up the hard ground, getting to know people, being in relationships with people,” says Leslie McGinnity, BYW Shower Operator. She adds, “This is not just wide, this is deep and we’re doing this to go deep and to be there for the one person, and if that one person happens to be in Worcester County, then that’s where we’re going to go.”

A volunteer and pastor also say Leslie and George who operate the showers are some of the kindest people. He tells  47 ABC, he hopes their kindness radiates out into the community. “People who aren’t in a homeless situation or unsheltered situation who are there serving as well see the magnitude of their love and it changes the way they love.”

We’re told they’re also looking for more clothing donations, specifically men’s boxer briefs, and men’s long sleeve t-shirts.
