Berlin Sconer baking up some funds for Ukraine

BERLIN, Md. – A local bakery is raising money for those saving lives on the front lines of the Russia/Ukraine conflict. The ‘Berlin Sconer‘ is baking up some big bucks for the Hospitallers.

They’re a group of doctors, EMTs, and paramedics who are on the front lines providing combat medicine and trauma-related help. The bakery’s owner, Ryan Nellans says, the group needs food, fuel, and medical supplies and the fundraiser has raised more than $1,400 in just a day.

Nellans says although it may just be a drop in the bucket if other businesses and groups make similar efforts, that help can go a long way. “The objective is the same, we want this to stop, we want people to be able to walk away from this, that’s why I chose the group that I did,” says Nellans. He adds, “So if you have every neighborhood do something like this, every small town raises $1000, all of the sudden, you are paid for man, you’ve got it all taken care of.”

The team at the Berline Sconer says they plan on doing another fundraiser in the future and hope others on Delmarva will follow suit.
