$7M going to vulnerable populations, reducing health disparities in Maryland

MARYLAND–The Maryland Community Health Resources Commission is issuing their 2022 Call for Proposals to serve vulnerable populations and reduce health disparities in Maryland.

A total of $7 million will be available in this RFP.

The money will focus on diabetes and chronic disease, maternal and child health and pediatric asthma, and behavioral health services including the opioid crisis.

During a virtual meeting, the commission discussed advice for people who do want to apply for this funding.

“One be like laser focused on your target population, if you don’t know who you don’t know who your target population is you can’t qualify in terms of data, you are going to do yourself a disadvantage,” Mark Luckner, CHRC Executive Director, said. “Number two, come up with an intervention that’s going to address the disparity or health project that you are looking to achieve.”

Luckner says applicants should have a sound data collection, which could include a budget. Also, have a plan that will keep the project going after that awarded grant funding runs out.
