Salisbury Property values rise 25% in 2022 State Reassessment
SALISBURY, Md. – Property values rose 25% from 2019 to 2022, according to the Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation’s 2022 reassessment of “Group 1” residential and commercial properties.
This puts Wicomico County in second place statewide for the most value added over the assessment period. Salisbury Mayor Jake Day said this is an indication of how hot the local real estate market is. But, he also said when it comes to housing in Salisbury, demand remains high, unlike the supply and that City continues to look for solutions.
“The only way we can fix that is by continuing to provide housing solutions for people and you know when we don’t the consequences again are prices continue to rise, people are without a home or they have to choose another market, they have to choose somewhere else to live and we obviously do not want that,” Mayor Jake Day, said.
Mayor Day also said the higher property value assessments don’t equal automatic tax increases.
