Pocomoke house fire ruled accidental

POCOMOKE, Md. – Officials say faulty electrical wiring is to blame for a weekend house fire in Pocomoke.

The blaze was reported at around 10:45 p.m. Sunday, at 417 Walnut Street. Firefighters arrived on scene to find fire and smoke coming from the attic of a two-story home built in 1904.

Further investigation revealed that the fire was accidental in nature and was caused by faulty electrical wiring in the attic. The property is owned by Mt. Vernon Group LLC and was subdivided into two apartments. All tenants were displaced and are currently being assisted by the American Red Cross.
