One injured in Accomack Co. shooting, teen in custody
ACCOMACK CO., Va. – Police say a teen is in custody following a shooting that injured one at a birthday party.
We’re told the incident happened at around 11:40 p.m. on January 15th. Accomack County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital and met with a 17-year-old female suffering from a gunshot wound. It was learned that the shooting took place at the Mary N. Smith Cultural Enrichment Center at the conclusion of a Sweet Sixteen party.
The victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Further investigation led to the arrest of a 16-year-old male of Cape Charles, Virginia. He was charged with malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and shooting into an occupied vehicle, and is currently being held at the Norfolk Juvenile Detention Center.
No other suspects are being sought in this incident.
