OC offering incentives to gain employees for transportation jobs this summer

OCEAN CITY, Md. – Town leaders are busy bulking up staff and transportation for the summer season.

Mayor Rick Meehan said last year was challenging to get enough part-time employees in the transportation department. Specifically, for boardwalk trams and buses that run the Coastal Highway route.

So, this year they’re trying to be proactive by raising base salaries and offering bonuses.

“We want to make sure that we are one step ahead, we want to make sure that if someone’s looking for a seasonal job that the best place to look is the town of Ocean City that it offers the most opportunity and the best pay we don’t want to be reactive we want to be proactive,” Mayor Rick Meehan said.

Mayor Meehan said they raised their minimum wage for these jobs to what will be the required level in 2025.

He said starting pay for tram drivers will go from $12.65 to $15.65, tram conductors will go from $11.75 to $15, and bus drivers will go from $15.60 to $17.75.

And, the town just sent out advertisements for these positions to get the word out.
