New partnership provides parental support, strengthening family ties
DELAWARE – Parents who have fallen behind on child support payments now have a resource to help catch up.
The Division of Child Support Services Delaware Fatherhood program is teaming up with The ReManned Project, Inc. The partnership provides parents with resources as they make their way through tough times.
The DCSS program focuses on career development while the ReManned Project tackles improving quality of life.
We’re told, unemployment increased because of the pandemic which had a direct impact on child support obligations.
DCSS personnel say partnerships like this are healthy for both the parent and the child. “When a child see’s their father playing an active role in their upbringing, whether its emotional or financial needs, it goes along way to insure regular child support payments,” Director of Delaware DCSS Ted Mermigos said. “It gives them the tools to kind of work through difficult situations and really become more productive members of society. Child support plays a role in that.”
