Lone Star Rodeo gallops back to Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md. – A dirt arena, plenty of horses, and a lot of fun. That’s what you’ll find at the Wicomico Civic Center this weekend as the Lone Star Rodeo gallops into town.

The Good Morning Delmarva team got a sneak peek of the show.

“This year is especially special for us because it’s our 25th year here in Salisbury at the Wicomico Civic Center, and so that’s kind of a feat in itself to be able to come up here for 25 years in a row and be able to bring quality, family entertainment.”

25 years of fun in Salisbury, and the Lone Star Rodeo is galloping back into town this weekend.

“We have a professional rodeo event with the bareback riding and the calf roping, steer and team roping, the cowgirl barrel racing and roping, and of course, everybody’s favorite, the bull-riding,” said Producer Rachel Boyd.

One major part of the show is the rodeo clown. But, he’s not a normal clown making balloon animals and telling jokes. Instead, he gets into a barrel and lets bulls knock him around the arena.

The GMD team also got a chance to try horseback riding, something neither of them had ever done.

Boyd says you never truly know what you’re going to get when you head out to the rodeo.

“Horses have a mind of their own, the animals do, the cowboys do, so even if you came both nights, you might not see the exact same show.”

If you’re interested in seeing the rodeo, it’s going on Friday and Saturday nights. Click here for tickets and more information.
