Hundreds flood the beach for the 28th annual penguin swim

OCEAN CITY, Md. – Atlantic General Hospital held their 28th annual Penguin swim, the icy plunge brought hundreds of swimmers together, to help raise funds for the hospital.

Over 700 swimmers crowded the beach to take a quick dip in the cold ocean waves, 48 degrees to be exact. Swimmers could come bundled up or participate in the costume contest.

We’re told the organization has already raised over $100,000 and funds will go towards providing quality care at AGH.

Long-time supporters and fundraiser leaders like the owner of Bull on the Beach, Phil Houck say it’s an honor to help in these efforts. “The hospital is everybody’s hospital, it’s so important for us to raise funds for it so it’s a great day and we love doing it every year,” says Houck. Michael Cylc, a Co-Chair of the AGH organization adds, “I think it gives people a lot of hope of what tomorrow is going to bring and it definitely helps us at the hospital and the foundation to achieve our goals.”

Houck says Bull on the Beach helped raise over $25,000 for the organization.

AGH adds,  this year is more important than ever to show appreciation for their healthcare heroes.
