Evening fire takes the life of one resident, fire remains under investigation
MILLVILLE, Del. – The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s office is investigating yesterday’s fire that heavily damaged a residential building. We’re told one person was found deceased inside the structure.
The blaze, reported shortly before 7:00 pm, occurred in the 34000 block of Omar Road. The Millville Volunteer Fire Company responded to the report of a fire involving a garage with an apartment on the 2nd floor, firefighters then discovered the victim inside the building.
State fire investigators are currently working to determine the origin and cause of the fire. The Division of Forensic Science will conduct an autopsy. There were no other injuries reported and heavy fire damage was estimated at $50,000.
This fire remains under investigation.
