Donations pouring in to BVSPCA in honor of Betty White on star’s 100th birthday

DELAWARE – On the last day of 2021, we all said goodbye to the great Betty White, who passed away at the age of 99. But Monday would have been her 100th birthday and people are finding the perfect way to honor her.

It’s called the Betty White challenge, and it encourages everyone to donate to an animal shelter today in the star’s name. White was an avid animal lover throughout her life and so fans can think of no better way to celebrate her birthday.

Here locally, officials with the Brandywine Valley SPCA say they started receiving donations in White’s name since the news of her passing came out. And on Monday, they say those donations were just pouring in.

“I just think she would be so proud to see all the people coming together to continue to raise awareness in a very positive way, and reach people who just may not know much about adoption and know what a positive experience it is and what a difference you’re making for the animals,” Linda Torelli, with the organization, said.

If you’re interested in donating today in White’s name, you can find information on the shelter’s website, on their Facebook page, and on their other social medias.
