Wicomico County Council elects new leaders
WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. – Wicomico County’s Council has two new leaders after a meeting Tuesday evening.
After a vote of 4-3, acting county council members John Cannon (At -Large seat) and Ernest Davis (District 1 seat) are the new President and Vice President.
Several council members showed their support for the new duo and thanked previous leadership for their service during the last two years.
Both Cannon and Davis say they look forward to what’s next in their new roles and plan on jumping full speed ahead into the issue of broadband access issue in the county.
“The sad thing is, our own Delegate Pro Temp Sheree Sample-Hughes initiated the legislation to get broadband on the lower shore. The money is out there,” said Councilman Davis.
The previous President and Vice President were Larry Dodd and Joe Holloway. The next council meeting will be later this month with a redistricting recommendation on the agenda that could potentially shake up some representation.
