TidalHealth asks for public’s help in controlling patient volumes in hospitals

Healthcare Disparities Bill

SALISBURY, Md. – TidalHealth is asking the public to help control patient volumes during this very busy time.

We’re told a spike in COVID-19 cases, other seasonal illnesses, and the many health needs of our local communities have come together, creating a perfect storm for healthcare providers. Emergency departments are crowded and every hospital room is filled, with some patients waiting in hallways for an opening.

Health officials are asking citizens to not use emergency services if they do not have an emergency and save that space for someone who really needs it. They are urging individuals to utilize their doctor or urgent care first. We’re told sometimes people come to an area Emergency Department with serious issues that could have been prevented by a vaccination, medication, or outpatient procedure.

“Make sure you keep up with regular appointments with your primary care provider and don’t wait until a small problem becomes major before you seek help,” TidalHealth says.
