Suspect Sought In Murder of Woman In Talbot County

TRAPPE, MD —  Maryland State Police are looking for Mauricio Ibarra Juarez, the man suspected of murdering a Talbot County woman last week.

A first-degree murder felony warrant has been issued for Juarez, 31, of Winchester, Virginia in the fatal shooting of Marta Merina, 33, of Trappe, Maryland.

Police responded to Howell Point Road in Trappe early Christmas Morning, when they arrived, they found Merina outside of her home suffering from a gunshot wound, later pronouncing dead on the scene.

State troopers from the Easton Barrack, along with deputies from the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office, responded to the scene.

The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit, along with the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division, are investigating the incident.

Juarez is believed to be traveling in a white GMC Sierra truck.

Do not approach him, as he should be considered armed and dangerous.
