Small business in Seaford, only Sussex County business to win EDGE grant this round

SEAFORD, Del. – On Thursday, the Delaware Division of Small Business recognized 15 small businesses as winners of the fourth round of their Encouraging, Development, Growth, and Expansion grant, also known as the EDGE grant which included a business in Sussex County.

One Way Insurance Group is a multilingual independent insurance agency providing languages in English, Spanish, and Haitian-creole.

With this $25,000 grant, they can purchase a van and convert it into a mobile office to reach more clients. A representative from One Way says, insurance is something that everybody needs but not everybody understands,-and this grant will help them reach more people and provide financial literacy for all.

“I feel like we represent the whole community, I feel like the whole community won this grant,” says Co-Founder, Gertha Jean. She adds, “And the importance of financial literacy current why do you need insurance try to make it easy so the community can others in the port of insurance.”

One Way also says they want to be an advocate for minority businesses.

Jean also says there are multiple resources for small businesses, and they hope to inspire others to take advantage as well.
