Roundtable discussion held at Dover Air Force Base to discuss efforts

DOVER, Del.- At the Dover Air Force Base, the 436th Airlift Wing commander hosted a roundtable session Tuesday.

While the pandemic impacted many, Colonel Matt Husemann,  Commander of the 436th Airlift Wing, said the base was also affected. One big challenge they faced was airmen meeting in person. But, we’re told along with the challenges came achievements.

That includes their mission to Afghanistan to bring thousands of people back to the United States. And, with that, we’re told they learned how to move through adversity and to put their training into action.

“That event showcases the ability to use logistics to use the young Airmen in a way that they’re ready and trained to be employed across the globe, and that they are able to do that in a moments notice and to be able to get folks out of harms way and to be able to take care of them and deliver them to the United States to give them the hope that living that American dream,” Col. Matthew Husemann, 436th Airlift Wing Commander, said.

Colonel Husemann said the base is also striving to bring more diversity and inclusion onto the base, as it helps the airmen with the ability to talk through issues, have more conversations, and break down barriers.
