Police: Harrington man flees from attempted traffic stop, found with gun
DOVER, Del. – Dover Police arrested a Harrington man Thursday night after he reportedly fled from an attempted traffic stop.
At around 9:30 p.m., an officer tried to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation in the area of River Road and New Castle Avenue. The driver, later identified as 21-year-old Eugene Anderson, fled from officers in the vehicle, but officers did not pursue.
A short time later, a different officer saw the vehicle at a dead-end at Morris Drive and Orchard Avenue. Officers were able to take Anderson into custody at this time, and found a handgun with an obliterated serial number in his possession.
Anderson was subsequently charged with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number, illegal gang participation, and disregarding a police officer signal. He is being held at SCI on a $46,600 secured bond.
