Local VVA offering help for families devastated by Kentucky tornadoes

SUSSEX COUNTY, Del. – The Sussex County chapter of Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) is asking for donations for the victims of the recent Kentucky tornadoes.

President of the chapter Rodger Rose tells us they’re collecting clothes, tools, kids’ items, and toiletries. His group will be taking a truckload and leaving Tuesday, December 28th for families devastated by the tornadoes in Kentucky.

Rose says their chapter is dedicated to giving back to the community and volunteering, and that can mean helping those outside of their community. He says this is just one of the many projects that help that mission to give back to those in need.

“This year we’ve given over $8,000 away to the home of the brave, stocking for soldiers, weekend warrior, just different things like that.” Rose adds, “We are very lucky that we do projects where we do make money and we do get donations so we love to do it.”

If you would like to donate, you can call Rodger Rose at 302-947-9626. or email rodger.n.rose@gmail.com. Or you can visit their website by clicking here.

Rose tells us they’re also looking to borrow or rent a panel or box truck to help deliver the items.
