Juvenile charged in connection to social media threat
EASTON, Md. – Police say a juvenile has been charged in connection to a social media threat at Easton Middle School.
We’re told on December 8th, after schools had closed for the day, the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office was notified by Talbot County Public Schools staff of a social media post regarding a potential threat to Easton Middle School.
That evening, deputies quickly identified, interviewed, and charged the juvenile responsible with threat of mass violence. The juvenile was then referred to the Department of Juvenile Services for further action.
Officials say this was the fourth threat to the county’s public schools in the past seven days. Talbot County Public Schools staff and the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office takes these threats very seriously, and all persons posting these threats have been charged with the appropriate violations of the law and referred to the Department of Juvenile Services.
Law enforcement urges anyone that learns of any threats concerning schools to report them immediately.
