Furnace failure causes fire at Somerset Co. business

MARION, Md. – A Somerset County business was heavily damaged after a fire broke out late Monday morning.

Investigators say the fire was reported at around 11:30 a.m., at the Marion Thrift Store located at 28373 Crisfield Marion Road. Firefighters responded and placed the fire under control in about 20 minutes.

Maryland fire marshals responded to investigate and say the blaze was caused by an unknown failure within the furnace. No injuries were reported. Total damage was estimated at $180,000.
