HOUSTON, Del. – A Kent County man is behind bars in connection to an arson fire early Friday morning.

We’re told at around 4:30 a.m., a domestic argument broke out between 20-year-old Jesus Goicuria and his girlfriend after a dog reportedly became aggressive and bit Goicuria. The female then went to a dwelling in the 1800 block of Blairs Pond Road in Houston, where Goicuria then allegedly set fire to the residence.

The female was able to extinguish the fire before major damage occurred.

Delaware State Police responded to the residence after Goicruia requested an ambulance for the animal bite. Troopers and Deputy State Fire Marshals took Goicuria into custody at Milford’s Bayhealth Campus and charged him with first degree arson, second degree reckless endangerment, and other charges related to the domestic dispute.

Goicuria is being held at SCI on an $8,000 secured bond.
