Days left to get Maryland Health Connection coverage starting Jan. 1

MARYLAND – Marylanders have until December 31st to get health coverage that kicks off at the beginning of the new year.

This year, open enrollment through Maryland Health Connection runs a month longer than in recent years, and anyone who gets a late start and enrolls during the first two weeks of January will have coverage beginning February 1st.

The Executive Director of the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange said health coverage can bring peace of mind during tough times.

“With the Coronavirus, things happen that we don’t ever expect are going to happen, you can have an accident, you can have an unintended pregnancy, all sorts of things that may end up costing money for care, so we really encourage people to come on in and look there’s a lot of wellness benefits that are included in your healthcare,” Michele Eberle, MHBE Executive Director, said.

Some changes that people can see in 2022 include a new state subsidy to lower costs for enrollees between the ages of 18 and 34.
