Beebe healthcare offering program for those interested in patient care assistance

LEWES, Del. – Beebe Healthcare is offering a unique program in an effort to bring more health care workers to their facility, called the Patient Care Assistant Program.

We’re told this 5-week training program focuses on basic clinical and computer skills for direct patient care in either the inpatient or outpatient settings. They’ll learn how to take blood pressure, temperature, basic needs, and even take blood glucose sugar levels.

To apply for the program, all you need is a high school diploma or GED equivalent, and an interest in the health care field. We’re also told, this is a great stepping stone for those who want a lifetime career in the healthcare field.

“I think that the pandemic has offered an opportunity to get creative with the hiring solutions or the patient care opportunities,” says Dr. Laura Smith, a Clinical Educator at Beebe Healthcare. She adds, “I think as the community grows, I think as health care evolves, courses such as the patient assistant course is a great way to meet the needs of the organization and the health care in general.”

We’re told this is a paid course that also offers tuition reimbursement. The next course starts on January 17, 2022.
