Ward Museum of Wildfowl Art to feature local artist exhibit, depicts diverse views of life on eastern shore

SALISBURY, Md. – In Salisbury, one local museum is expanding its reach with the help of grant funding.

The Ward Museum of Wildfowl Art received over $13,000 from the Institute of Museum and Library Services through the American Rescue Plan. We’re told these funds help support museums and libraries throughout the state through the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition to support, the funds will also go towards a new exhibit called “Another View” by artist Patrick Henry in Berlin MD.

The work of art looks at historical African American communities and leaders on the Eastern Shore. Museum officials tell 47ABC it’s a way to show a diverse view of life.

“I’m really excited for the opportunity. I think to hopefully connect with diverse communities on the shore and help to spotlight some of the unrepresented narratives and traditions on the shore as well through the Ward Museum,” Ward Museum Executive Director Kristin Sullivan said. “It’s literally in our mission to create spaces and opportunities of learning about community heritage and that includes all communities on the eastern shore.”

The exhibit will be up at the Ward Museum on January 28th. Sullivan also tells 47 ABC that thanks to the grant funding, community members will have an opportunity to view a gallery book,  a virtual tour, and a roundtable talk with Henry himself.
