Talbot Co. Government issues RFP to bid on removing Talbot Boys Statue
EASTON, Md. – The Talbot County Government has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for companies to bid on the removal of the Talbot Boys Monument from the Talbot County Courthouse Green.
We’re told the Move the Monument Coalition has been raising money to remove the statue, and taxpayers will not pay for the removal.
The Council voted back in September to authorize the relocation of the monument from the Courthouse grounds to the Cross Keys Battlefield, a private park near Harrisonburg, VA, where the statue will be under the care of the Shenandoah Valley Battlefields Foundation.
The County Government has issued the request and bid notice, which can be found here. Sealed proposals will be accepted by the Office of the Talbot County Manager, South Wing, Talbot County Courthouse, 11 North Washington, Suite 13, Easton, MD 21601 until 10 a.m. on Friday, November 19th.
Emailed or faxed proposals will not be accepted. The County adds that it reserves the right to reject any or all proposals or to accept and proposal or portions thereof, or to modify the Scope of Work following award, as more fully set forth in the contract documents.
The Talbot County Council expects to award the bid at their meeting on Tuesday, November 23rd.
