1280 Dover Fatal 1111

DOVER, Del. – Police say they are investigating a crash that killed one early Tuesday morning.

We’re told at around 5:45 a.m., a 2003 Toyota Prius was traveling southbound on Korean War Veterans Memorial Highway (SR1), just north of the Exit 104 off ramp for Scarborough Road. For unknown reasons, the Prius reportedly traveled off the east edge of the roadway and partially into the center grass median before veering back onto the roadway, spinning in a clockwise direction, and traveling across both southbound lanes. The vehicle then drove off the west side of SR1, hit a metal guardrail with its front bumper, and continued spinning clockwise as it traveled through the guardrail before coming to a stop.

The driver, identified as 53-year-old Marc Jeudy, was properly restrained and had to be extracted from the vehicle by fire department personnel. He was then flown to Christiana Medical Center where he was admitted in critical condition, before succumbing to his injuries early Thursday morning.

A 53-year-old female passenger, Jeudy’s wife, was taken to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. She was later released.

This crash remains under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to contact Master Corporal J. Lane at 302-698-8457 or Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
