Probation check leads to firearm charge for Dover man

DOVER, Del. – A Dover man is behind bars following a probation check last week.

We’re told that on October 27th, Delaware Probation and Parole was assisted by Dover Police in conducting a probation check on Javonte Brown. A routine home visit was conducted on Brown’s residence in the Unit Block of S. New Street, during which officers found a shotgun inside of the home.

The weapon was seized and examined for fingerprints, and on Wednesday, the fingerprints were confirmed as Brown’s, and an arrest warrant was obtained. Officers conducted surveillance and saw Brown traveling in a vehicle in Harrington. A traffic stop was subsequently conducted, and Brown was taken into custody.

He was charged with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited and violation of probation, and is currently being held at SCI on a $10,000 cash bond.
