Md. transit offering free rides for Veterans, Active-Duty Military members on Veteran’s Day

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration will offer free rides for veterans and active-duty military on Veteran’s Day.

Transit rides will be free all day on November 11th for all U.S. military veterans, active-duty military, and members of the National Guard and Reserves. We’re told that offering a day of free, unlimited transit rides is a way to honor the commitment and service of America’s military personnel.

“For a third consecutive year, MDOT MTA is proud to have veterans and military personnel ride for free on Veterans Day,” said MDOT MTA Acting Administrator Holly Arnold. “Offering a free day of transit is a small token of MDOT MTA’s appreciation for our military members service and sacrifice.”

To qualify for a free ride, individuals will need to show an ID under one of the following classifications:

  • U.S. Department of Defense issued ID (Armed Forces/Uniformed Services/Military Retiree)
  • U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs issued ID
  • Maryland MVA Veteran designation on a driver’s license or state ID
