MCE gives entrepreneur of the year award to owner of MD’s first over night child care center

SALISBURY, Md. – Maryland Capital Enterprises (MCE) gave their ‘Palmer Gillis Entrepreneur of the Year Award’ to Dr. Amy Heger, with Maryland’s first overnight child care center.

Dr. Heger opened the Night Watch Child Care Center back in 2018. Heger tells 47 ABC, she grew up with a father in law enforcement who talked about parents struggling to find care for their children when they have to work overnight shifts.

Now her hard work and dedication, along with other entrepreneurs in Maryland were recognized on Thursday morning by the MCE for their hard work. Dr. Heger says to other blossoming entrepreneurs, anyone can be successful, it just takes work willingness to think outside the box.

“Making soaps, jewelry, coloring, it doesn’t matter what it is somebody is out here making money doing it so pursue it think outside the box and don’t give up,” says Dr. Heger. She adds, “It’s nice to be recognized, we’re kind of a nontraditional business in a non-traditional schedule so it was nice to be recognized and acknowledged.”

Other contenders for the award included Tracy Trice, who received the Innovator Award, and Jon and Samantha Cameron, who received the Workforce Development Award.
