‘I feel a strong commitment to Delaware:’ Dover city council candidate says focus is on public safety

DOVER, Del.-  The Dover city council elections are coming up and we sat down with one candidate running for the 1st District seat, Julia Pillsbury.

Pillsbury is a local Pediatrician and an Air Force veteran. She’s been a Dover resident for over three decades and says she is deeply rooted in the community. We’re told her platform will be focused on public safety, strengthening ties between law enforcement and local citizens.

This will be Pillsbury’s second run for office, as she ran for Insurance commissioner back in 2020 and lost to incumbent Trinidad Navarro.

She says the love and dedication for the place she’s made her home will not only help her serve Delawareans but help promote change. “The hospital, the school system, and the state employees are a big part of the Dover community but we need more small businesses here as well,” said Pillsbury. “I feel a strong commitment to Delaware and to Dover and I want to see us be more successful.”

As of Monday, the other candidate for district one is Brandy Walker.

The election will be held on Tuesday, November 16th from 7a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Elks Lodge in Dover.
