Dover Police investigating attempted rape in parking lot

DOVER, Del. – Dover Police are searching for a suspect after he reportedly tried to rape a woman in a parking lot early Monday morning.

We’re told the incident took place just after midnight, when a 45-year-old woman in the area of the Dover Library was approached by an unknown man. The suspect reportedly hit the victim multiple times, threw her to the ground, and began to remove her clothing. As the victim was screaming for help, two men in the area ran to help her and confronted the suspect. The suspect then fled the area on foot.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries.
