Del. man in critical condition following fire

GEORGETOWN, Del. – Officials say a 37-year-old man is listed in critical condition following a fire Monday evening in Georgetown.

According to the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s office, a fire was reported just after 8:30 p.m. in the woods off the unit block of Douglas Street. Firefighters and paramedics responded to the area for a vegetation fire involving an injury, locating the victim in the woods badly burned. A campsite was also on fire nearby.

The victim was taken to the Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Upland, Pennsylvania for treatment of severe burns, where he remains listed in critical condition.

Deputy state fire marshals were called to the scene and are conducting the investigation with the assistance of the Georgetown Police Department. The cause and origin of the blaze remain under investigation. There were no other injuries.
