Candidate Brandy Walker runs for 1st district municipal election

DOVER, Del. – Dover city council elections are coming up, and 47 ABC spoke with one candidate running for 1st district, Brandy Walker.

We’re told Walker is a mother, mental health clinician, a licensed professional counselor, and an owner of her private practice. She tells us, she lived in Dover for years and says mental health seems to be the biggest component in continuing to make Dover a better place to live. Walker says her platform would be focused on providing those mental health resources through all aspects of Dover whether that be homelessness or even public safety.

No matter what side you stand on, she says to best help residents, city council members should listen and work collaboratively with politicians and residents to do so.

“Being able to listen, actively listen, take in, empathize with the residents of the city of Dover,” says Walker. She adds, “I think collaborating with other people in different positions but also collaborating with the community on needs and issues that need to be fixed.”

Walker also tells us, she may be far from a politician but her work with the residents of Dover in her mental health practice sets her apart from other candidates.

As of Monday, the other candidate for district one is Julia Pillsbury. The election will be held on Tuesday, November 16th from 7 pm. to 8 p.m. at the Elks Lodge in Dover.
