$16K going to Women Supporting Women for new “Forward Focus” Therapy Program

SALISBURY, Md. – Over $16,000 is going to the Women Supporting Women organization to provide a new mental health service.

The Salisbury non-profit provides awareness, education, and support to those impacted by breast cancer. They now will be able to offer the “Forward Focus” Therapy Program with this grant funding from the Rural Maryland Council.

We’re told the program was inspired by the pandemic and how it impacted survivors.

“There’s a lot of stress when it comes to any cancer diagnosis, especially with COVID it can be very stressful, and maybe our clients don’t exactly know how to deal with that and maybe they can’t afford to go to any mental health places,” Abigail Hoffman, WSW PR and Marketing Director said.

The organization has partnered with a counseling service to provide up to 5 free sessions to 15 breast cancer survivors who need therapy. Those sessions can be held in person and telehealth.
