Virtual Kidney Walk virtual this year, hoping to bring more awareness to disease

DELMARVA- The Maryland And Delaware Virtual Kidney walk is right around the corner.

The event will happen October 24, at 10 a.m. and it will be live-streamed. The event is designed to raise awareness around kidney disease and celebrate hope for the 37 million American adults affected by it.

We are told it’s important that people know what kidney disease is because approximately 9 out 10 people don’t know that they have it.

And, it’s the 9th leading cause of death in the US.

“With whats going on with that, a lot of people unfortunately have what they called early chronic kidney disease they don’t have symptoms and so they are living their life not knowing whats going on, it’s when you have late stage kidney disease, getting closer to kidney failure that you develop symptoms,” Dr. Ndanda Mabhena-Ofori, DNP, CRNP with Delmarva Kidney, said.

We’re told it’s also important to raise awareness to hopefully prevent and delay the progression of kidney disease.

If you would like to register, you can go to KidneyWalk.org/MDDE or kidneywalk.org/baltimore.
