The Snowball Stand lending a helping hand to teen battling cancer
BERLIN, Md.- A business owner is doing what she can to help a teenage boy fighting cancer.
Danielle Pohland, owner of The Snowball Stand, is hosting a fundraiser on October 16th to benefit 17-year-old Joshua Alton. Alton is a Stephen Decatur student diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in July.
To help him and his family, Pohland will sell things like baked goods, raffles, and pumpkins during the event. All of the proceeds will go to the family.
“So, I saw Joshua’s story on the news and it really touched my heart, I’m a mom to a 3-year-old little boy and I could never imagine as a parent watching my child go through this, so I just felt in my heart that I really needed to help Joshua and his family cause it also financially can take a toll on the family,” Pohland said.
The event will happen from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at The Snowball stand. Pohland said if all goes well, she would love to have more fundraisers in the future.
