Suspicious object found on Georgetown construction site, officials say

GEORGETOWN, Del. – Delaware State Fire Marshals say they are investigating after an object was found on a construction site in Georgetown Friday morning.

We’re told first responders were called to the site in the 22000 block of Dupont Boulevard at around 9 a.m. when an object seen on a vehicle at the construction site resembled an explosive device. Georgetown Police and Delaware State Police’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal team responded to the scene, ultimately determining that the object was safe.

No injuries or property damage occurred. Officials are analyzing the components of the device to determine if it was a functional explosive device.
