Special Olympics excited to host 23rd Fall Sports Festival in Frederica
FREDERICA, Del. – Special Olympics Delaware will be hosting their 23rd Fall Sports Festival on November 5th in Delaware.
More than 450 Special Olympics athletes and unified partners are competing in the games at DE Turf Sports Complex. There will be tournaments in bocce, football, and soccer, as well as 1-mile and 5k runs.
This event was not able to happen last year due to COVID, but with it coming back this year it’s a great way for many to connect again.
“It really is a fun time for people to come out and it gives them that opportunity to be able to give back to the community and for us its a chance to really market special Olympics and the abilities of our athletes and the commitment of our coaches and the tremendous role that volunteers play,” Jon Buzby, Director of Media Relations, said.
The event is sponsored by Chase. The running events begin at 9 a.m. and 9:45 a.m., with the opening ceremony at 11:15 a.m. inside the stadium.
