Somerset Co. Health Department announces locations for National Drug Take Back Day
WESTOVER, Md. – National Drug Take Back Day returns this weekend.
Take Back Day offers the opportunity to dispose of unused/expired prescription medications in a safe manner nationwide. This year, Take Back Day will be held on Saturday, October 23rd, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Somerset County residents will have several options for disposing of their unused or expired prescriptions. The following drop off sites will be available:
- Crisfield Police – 319 W. Main Street, Crisfield
- Maryland State Police Princess Anne Barrack “X” – 30581 Perry Road, Princess Anne
- Princess Anne Police – 11780 Beckford Avenue, Princess Anne
- Crisfield Pharmacy – 390 W. Main Street, Crisfield
- Karemore Pharmacy – 12085 Somerset Avenue, Princess Anne
- Marion Pharmacy – 26427 Burton Avenue, Crisfield
Needles, liquids, thermometers, or biohazard materials will not be accepted at any of the Drug Take Back boxes. Acceptable deposits include any expired or unused medication that comes in pill form, capsules, or liquid in a bottle and/or non-liquid forms of medication that can be in the original container or in a ziplock baggie.
Anyone wishing to dispose of unused prescription medication but is unable to take it on Drug Take Back Day will have the option of receiving a Deterra Drug Deactivation and Disposal System Pouch through the Somerset County Health Department. To receive a Deterra Pouch, you can call 443-523-1700.
