Salisbury man sentenced for violating probation
SALISBURY, Md. – A Salisbury man has been sentenced for violating his probation.
We’re told Darrell Mapes was found in violation of his probation by a Wicomico County judge last week and subsequently had his probation revoked. The judge sentenced Mapes to serve the remaining 15 years of his original sentence in prison.
On August 23, 2013, Mapes was sentenced to 25 years with all but 10 years of incarceration suspended after being convicted of sex abuse of a minor. Mapes began serving three years of supervision after being released in May 2020.
On February 10, 2021, Mapes was reportedly not present for a scheduled home visit conducted by his probation agent. Mapes told the agent that he had spent the night at the Pemberton Manor apartment complex, where he was prohibited from staying. During a subsequent investigation, which included a polygraph exam, Mapes admitted that he repeatedly spent the night at Pemberton Manor over an extended period of time. He also admitted to violating his probation by having unsupervised contact with minors.
