Ocean City 9/11 stair climb event aims to honor 343 firefighters who have passed
OCEAN CITY, Md.- The annual 9/11 stair climb will take place at the Pyramid Condominium.
The event is put on to keep the 343 firefighters’ names that died on 9/11 memory alive. It also raises money for the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation who supports families affected by line of duty deaths.
The President of the Delmarva Emerald Society, which sponsors the event, said this stair climb means a lot to him and hopes to educate future generations on how important these firefighters were.
“We just passed the 20th anniversary, literally we have adults, 18-year-olds that weren’t even born when this happened, so it’s my responsibility, my generation’s responsibility to make sure that information gets carried on from generation to generation so that it never ever gets forgotten and those souls never get lost,” James Jester, Delmarva Emerald Society, said.
All are welcome to the 9/11 stair climb.
If you want to participate in Saturday’s event, on-site registration begins at 9 a.m and the first climbers will start at 10 a.m.
Online registration is closed.
