Local, world leaders celebrate new “Friendship Bridge” in Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md. – City officials and U.S. leaders gathered Friday afternoon to welcome a new bridge downtown.

The bridge dedicated as the “Friendship Bridge” can be found on Camden Street. But, the bridge it’s just a place for pedestrians it has a much bigger meaning.

“It really shows the outreach of leadership here in Salisbury to recognize that as we can do more people to people exchanges, in this case, Tartu, Estonia we’re bringing people together better understanding and I think a better future for our world,” Senator Ben Cardin, said. “These people-to-people exchanges are so important and it will be a visible sign here in Salisbury 15 as to its impacts on the international community the relationship is important.”

Salisbury Mayor Jake Day said this bridge will also make it possible for residents to make it safely into downtown Salisbury.
