Humane society market brings more vendors and donations
SALISBURY, Md. – The Humane Society of Wicomico County held their second Autumn Bazaar and Market on Saturday, in hopes of raising funds for their much needed expansion efforts.
Over 20 vendors set up at the humane society to sell baked goods, apparel, trinkets, and much more. We’re told the shelter has been keeping full and now as they head into fall, they’re revving up their efforts to expand their shelter.
The humane society tells 47 ABC, they’re seeing numerous owner surrenders due to people moving or those who are homeless, so Saturday gave them an opportunity to bring the community and small businesses together while also raising awareness about their shelter needs.
“We take in the worst of the worst so if you are able to donate anything at all we definitely will need it for surgical funds, medical needs, general care, as well as the expansion,” says Megan Koester, Event and Coordinator at the humane society. She adds, “It is something we’re trying to do within the next year or so. Once the price of materials with COVID and everything kind of goes back down, it’s in the works it just probably won’t happen for the next year or so.”
Those with the humane society also tells us, they sent home about 70 animals during their clear the shelter event. However, they are still looking for residents to adopt more dogs and kittens.
Their next fundraising event is their quarter auction on November 12th, details will be on our Facebook.
