Buc stops here; KI halts WiHi’s streak to stay unbeaten
SALISBURY, Md- In a battle of the two remaining undefeated Bayside teams, Kent Island topped WiHi 24-8 on Friday night.
After a scoreless first quarter filled with defensive stops, KI struck first on a 55-yard touchdown from Matt Burnside to Mason Brockington.
On the ensuing drive, WiHi quarterback Darius Foreman went down with a knee injury, (he would not return) while KI forced another three and out.
Kent Island would capitalize on good field position on their next drive–with Ryan Sweiderk plunging in from one-yard out for a touchdown.
WiHi would manage a red-zone stop on the Bucs next drive, but Kent Island would add a field goal to lead 17-0 at the half.
With no scores in the third quarter, KI would get their third and final touchdown in the fourth. Kasey Heath would drive his way in from four yards out, to give his team a 24-0 lead.
WiHi would get on the board moments later, Malique Leatherbury would take the ensuing kickoff back 88-yards for the Tribe’s only points of the game.
Kent Island moves to 5-0, becoming the lone remaining undefeated team in the conference. WiHi falls to 4-1.
