UPDATE: One dead in Salisbury shooting, investigation continuing

SALISBURY, Md. – Maryland State Police are investigating a shooting that claimed the life of one and injured another Tuesday afternoon.

We’re told that shortly before 2 p.m., Salisbury Police received a 911 call requesting a welfare check at a residence in the 300 block of Martin Street. On arrival, two victims were found inside the residence, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Both victims were immediately taken to the hospital for treatment. One suspect, identified as 42-year-old Emanual Jones, was pronounced dead at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional.

50-year-old Patrice Trader was flown by MSP helicopter to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where she is currently undergoing treatment.

Maryland State Police responded to the scene and obtained a search warrant for the residence, which was then executed. Crime scene technicians also responded to process the scene for evidence.

We’re told the type of firearm used in the shooting has not been identified at this time. Police say they believe this was not a random attack and the victims were targeted.
