Bennett denied win in final seconds
Southern holds JMB at goal line in final plays
SALISBURY, Md- The Bennett Clippers fell to 0-5 this season after a 21-20 thriller on Saturday afternoon against Southern (Anne Arundel).
Trailing 14-12 at the half, Bennett quarterback Sam Blackmon gave the Clippers a 20-14 lead with a 1-yard touchdown run with 8:38 left in the game.
Southern would answer back on the next drive. Quarterback Kingston Quattlebaum would get across the goal line on fourth down with a 16-yard touchdown. The extra point would give the Bulldogs a 21-20 lead with 1:20 left in the contest.
Bennett would get a 44-yard run by Jordan Mitchell to get into Southern red zone with one minute remaining. The Clippers would work the ball down to the two yard line with 25 seconds left.
Blackmon would be denied on third and fourth down by the Southern defense to give the Bulldogs the win.
